Apprise
Send notifications to Telegram, Slack, email and many other services through an Apprise server.
Apprise sends notifications to many services, such as Telegram, Slack and email. Each destination is an Apprise URL in that service's own format. Pulsarr sends each notification to your Apprise API server along with the URLs it should go to, and Apprise delivers it. Users can get their own notifications through it, and admins can get system notifications.
Run Apprise
Run the Apprise API container in the same Compose file as Pulsarr, so Pulsarr can reach it by name:
services:
apprise:
image: caronc/apprise:latest
container_name: apprise
ports:
- "8000:8000"
environment:
APPRISE_STATEFUL_MODE: simple
APPRISE_WORKER_COUNT: "1"
APPRISE_DEFAULT_FORMAT: "text"
TZ: America/Toronto
volumes:
- ./config:/config
- ./plugin:/plugin
- ./attach:/attach
restart: unless-stopped
pulsarr:
image: lakker/pulsarr:latest
container_name: pulsarr
ports:
- "3003:3003"
volumes:
- ./data:/app/data
environment:
- PUID=1000
- PGID=1000
restart: unless-stopped
env_file:
- .env
depends_on:
- appriseThen point Pulsarr at it in .env and restart Pulsarr:
appriseUrl=http://apprise:8000If Apprise runs somewhere else, use its full address instead, for example http://192.168.1.100:8000. Pulsarr reads appriseUrl and checks that Apprise is reachable only at startup, so start Apprise first or restart Pulsarr once it is up. Notifications > Apprise shows the address in use and whether Pulsarr reached it.
System notifications
Apprise URLs under System notifications is where admin notifications go. Enter an Apprise URL, for example tgram://bot_token/chat_id, and select Add URL for each extra one. With an email sender set, a plain email address works too. The Apprise documentation lists the URL format for every service.
Send test next to a URL sends a test notification to it, and Test saved URLs tests the URLs already saved.
Users
A user's own Apprise URL goes on their page under Plex users, or they can set it with /notifications in Discord.
Email addresses
Email sender takes a mailtos:// URL for an account that can send mail, for example mailtos://user:app_password@gmail.com. With it set, any Apprise field in Pulsarr also accepts a plain email address, and Pulsarr sends to it through that account. Gmail needs an app password. The email sender doesn't work with saved Apprise configs.
Saved Apprise configs
Pulsarr uses Apprise's stateless notify endpoint, so every URL you enter in Pulsarr is sent along with each notification, and nothing has to be saved in Apprise.
If you already keep your services in a config saved in Apprise, you can point Pulsarr at it instead. Saved configs need Apprise's stateful mode, which APPRISE_STATEFUL_MODE=simple in the example above turns on. Enter apprise://apprise:8000/<config-key> wherever Pulsarr takes an Apprise URL, or apprises:// when Apprise is behind HTTPS. Add ?tags= to send to only part of the config.
Two things work differently with a saved config:
- The Email sender doesn't work with saved configs. Put the email service in the saved config itself.
- Posters and other images only come through with Apprise API 1.5.0 or later.
